The Journey
The Goliath is a young adult historical-fiction novel set in WWII Europe. It begins when best friends Hudson and Jimmy, two young teenagers in London during the Blitz, are inexplicably transported to Berlin by a mystical subway train named the Goliath. There they encounter Kelly, a Jewish girl hiding her true identity after her parents disappear following the horrific events of Kristallnacht.
Despite their young ages, the three teens find themselves dragged into the war effort after inadvertently crossing paths with the glory-hungry German paratrooper Oberleutnant Heinrich Schmitt. The Goliath provides him with the perfect opportunity for an audacious plan to defeat England in one fell swoop. Through an unexpected twist of fate, this scheme also places Hudson's mother's life in jeopardy.
Limited exclusively to the help of his two friends to foil Schmitt's plot, Hudson must now find a way to return to London and save not only his mother, but also his very country from complete Nazi domination.Â
